| Hoyo Monterrey Cigars. In the town San Juan y Martínez, in Vuelta Abajo, there is a wrought-iron gate with the inscription "Hoyo de Monterrey, José Gener, 1860", which indicates that Mr. Gener used to be a tobacco grower before he registered his brand in 1865. Although it keeps its traditional packaging, this brand has undergone profound changes. Hoyo de Monterey cigars are the best new generation cigars, more pliable, with great draw and excellent burning properties, with just the right fragrance and flavour and no excess of light (lager) tobacco in blend.
